I have a good friend who says: “if you want to meet new people and be open to different things you should start smoking and drinking.”
I like that. Of course my friend is right. The question is: Are you willing to pay the price, sacrifice your lungs, your very health in order to broaden you horizons?
The Wisconsin legislature is about to answer this question for you. If they get their way the answer will be a resounding No!
Baby Boomers are at it again. Here we are in a war at home and abroad and what are the boomers worried about? Cigarette smoke. Wow. It’s not enough that I can’t Super size it at McDonalds anymore, that I can’t gas up or cut my lawn on Ozone action days, no. Now boomers are trying to kill social interaction by “outlawing smoking in all public forums where people congregate”.
This isn’t new. Boomers types have done this before. When the soldiers returned from the battlefields of WWI they were met with prohibition. Drinking was driven underground. People had to go to “blind pigs” and “speak easies” to get their “freak on”. Prohibition didn’t last of course. The Boomer generation of that day (Missionary) couldn’t help but to get old. Once they did the next generation kicked them to the curb and lifted the ban.
The same thing will happen again. History rhymes.
Until then, if the Wisconsin legislator is stupid enough to pass this asinine law. I vow to violate it. I will become a smoker in protest! I will smoke in bars and restaurants and force the operators to call the cops to arrest me. I’ll call them “smoke ins”. I’ll make placards that read, “We shall overcome” and “This to shall pass”.
You boomers kill me. All I want is the right to kill myself.
Funny. Abortion is legal but smoking is on the verge of being vanquished from the land.
